Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and the name you provide. These are used for authentication, identification, and account management.

Age Verification

To comply with legal drinking age requirements, Beertapp asks you to confirm your date of birth each time you log in. This confirmation is stored locally on your device for the current session and is not uploaded to our servers.

Beer Collection Data

When you scan or log a beer, we store the details you provide or that we are able to detect — such as the beer name, brewery, style, ABV, calories, your rating, tasting notes, and the date you tried it. This data is private to your account.

Photos

Beer photos you capture or upload are stored securely and used for AI analysis to identify beer details from the label. Photos are private to your account.

Location Data

If you grant permission, we use your device's GPS to estimate the venue where you tried a beer and to plot your beers on your personal map. Coordinates are optional and are only saved to an entry when you choose to include them.

Achievements

We track badges and progress based on the beers you log (for example, number of beers tried or variety of styles). This is derived from your own collection data.

How We Use Your Information

Third-Party Services

AI Services: Beer photos are analyzed using AI to identify beer information from the label. Images are processed securely and are not shared publicly.

Location & Mapping Services: When you enable location, we use device GPS together with third-party reverse-geocoding and map tile services (such as OpenStreetMap) to estimate venue names and display your map. Location is used only with your permission.

Base44 Platform: Beertapp is built on the Base44 platform, which provides hosting, authentication, and data storage. Your data is also subject to Base44's security measures and privacy practices.

Permissions & Device Access

• Camera: Used to capture beer photos for scanning. Requested only when you scan a beer.

• Photo Library: Used only when you choose to upload an existing photo of a beer.

• Location: Used to detect venues and show your beer map. Optional — you can use Beertapp fully without granting location access.

You can change or revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings.

Age Verification & Responsible Use

Beertapp is intended for adults of legal drinking age. You must confirm your date of birth each time you log in. Please enjoy beer responsibly and never drink and drive. Beertapp does not encourage excessive or underage consumption.

Your Rights

• Access and review your beer collection and account data at any time

• Update or correct your information

• Delete individual beer entries, or delete your account and all associated data

• Decline or revoke location and camera permissions at any time

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it. Removing individual beer entries deletes that entry's data immediately.

Children's Privacy

Beertapp is intended for users who are at least 18 years old (or the legal drinking age in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher). We do not knowingly collect information from individuals under the legal drinking age. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by email or through the app. Your continued use of Beertapp after changes means you accept the updated policy.
